BGT 2024-25: BCCI holds six-hour marathon meeting after New Zealand whitewash! but why?
Xtra Time Web Desk: The BCCI has conducted a six hour long marathon meeting with Head Coach Gautam Gambhir and Captain Rohit Sharma after New Zealand whitewash. In presence of chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar, BCCI president Roger Binny and secretary Jay Shah, the agenda of the meeting was an exhaustive review of India's shocking loss against New Zealand.
The selection of a rank turner for the Mumbai Test, possibilities of resting Jasprit Bumrah, and Gautam Gambhir's coaching style have also been discussed there. According to sources, several questions have been asked to the team management in relating to the decisions taken during the series. A discussion took place on how Gautam Gambhir's coaching style is different from formar coach Rahul Dravid, and how the team is getting used to it.

A senior BCCI source told PTI on conditions of anonymity, "It was a six-hour marathon meeting, which was obviously on cards after such a debacle. India are going on a tour of Australia, and the BCCI would obviously like to ensure that the team is back on track and would like to know how the think-tank (Gambhir-Rohit-Agarkar) are going about it."
The BCCI is also not happy with Jasprit Bumrah being rested in the third test against Kiwis and why the team opted for a rank turner after being beaten on a similar kind of surface in Pune. The source informed, "Bumrah's absence was discussed, although it was a precautionary move. Opting for a rank turner despite India not faring well on these tracks are some of the issues that came up for discussion."

Although it is not confirmed whether Gambhir's coaching style was questioned or not but it is clear that some people in the Indian team think tank aren't on the same page with the chief coach. The Indian team will be leaving for Australia in two batches on November 10 and 11. Will any interesting changes be observed after this meeting! All eyes are on that now.
