Xtra Time Web Desk: Virat Kohli's first outing during the match simulation at WACA lasted only 15-20 minutes, as he managed to score 15 runs before being dismissed by Mukesh Kumar. Kohli entered the middle after KL Rahul left the field due to an elbow injury. With opener Yashasvi Jaiswal departing early, Kohli and Shubman Gill were left to steady the innings. However, the WACA pitch, known for its consistent bounce, tested Kohli’s ability to execute his trademark drives.

Mukesh Kumar proved particularly challenging, getting the ball to skid and beat Kohli's defense on multiple occasions. Kohli was eventually dismissed while attempting to connect with a delivery outside off-stump. He headed to the nets to work on his technique with throwdown specialists.

Other players, including Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Rishabh Pant, alternated between the simulation game and nets practice. Meanwhile, Gill injured his thumb during the session, raising concerns about his availability for the Perth Test. With Rohit Sharma also likely to miss the game, Kohli’s role as the senior-most batter becomes even more critical.

India might also see debuts for Dhruv Jurel and Nitish Kumar Reddy, with the latter expected to feature as an all-rounder. Kohli's camaraderie with teammates, including Pant, Jadeja, and Bumrah, helped maintain a relaxed environment as the team prepared for the high-stakes series opener.
