XtraTime Web Desk: Reigning champions Real Madrid secured their first win of the La Liga this season, beating Real Betis 3-2 at the Benito Villamarin on Saturday. Federico Valverde put the defending champions in front from close range after just 14 minutes, before Betis equalized through Aissa Mandi header in the 35th minute.
The hosts took a lead through William Carvalho just two minutes later when he drilled past Thibaut Courtois. An own goal from full-back Emerson levelled things up early in the second half. With 10 minutes left, Madrid were awarded a penalty after VAR picked up a handball from Marc Bartra as the defender fell inside the box. Talisman Sergio Ramos made no mistake from the spot kick to give full points to Real Madrid.
It was the first win for Zinedine Zidane’s side this season in La Liga after being held 0-0 by Real Sociedad in the first match. Real’s next fixture in La Liga is against Real Valladolid on September 30.
