XtraTime Web Desk: Lionel Messi scored his 700th goal in La Liga but failed to inspire Barcelona to a win against Atletico Madrid as the match ended in a 2-2 draw at the Camp Nou on Tuesday night. It was the third draw for the Catalans in the last four fixtures, as they further slipped in the table. Barcelona now has 70 points from 33 games while Real Madrid having played a match less is on 71 points.

The match saw three penalty goals and an own goal. The visitors were a goal down in the 10th minute with Diego Costa scoring the first own goal in professional career. The Spaniard did have a chance to redeem himself but failed to capitalize from the spot kick as Ter Stegen made the save only to see the referee signaling a retake as both his feet were beyond his goal line. Saul equalized for Atletico de Madrid from the spot kick in the 18th minute. Lionel Messi gave Barca the lead again from a spot kick in the 49th minute as Semedo was brought down inside the box. Atletico was awarded another penalty as Carrasco was tripped from behind by Semedo. Saul made no mistake from the spot kick to bring both teams to level terms in the 61st minute.

The result will put enormous pressure on Quique Setien’s side as they can find themselves being separated by four points on top if Zinedine Zidane’s boys can win against Getafe at home on Thursday.
