Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj put India on top after Day 2 of Chittagong test | BANvIND

Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India’s left arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Siraj made full use of the opportunity as they wreaked havoc with the ball on Day of the ongoing first test against Bangladesh at Zahur Ahmed Chaudhury stadium on Thursday. The hosts have lost 8 wickets with 133 runs on board, still trailing by 271 runs in first innings. Siraj (3/14) and Kuldeep (4/33) shared 7 wickets among them with Umesh Yadav taking the wicket of Yasir Ali.

India posted a mammoth 404 runs with Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav scoring 58 and 40 runs respectively. The duo stitched a partnership of 92 runs for the 8th wicket.

Siraj (3-14) wreaked havoc at the start of the Bangladesh innings, removing both openers and also Litton Das. Kuldeep (4-33) joined the party to leave the home side reeling at 133-8 at stumps, still 271 behind.

Mehidy Hasan (16), Bangladesh’s last recognised batsman, and Ebadot Hossain (13) will hope they can produce something special to try and avoid a follow-on when they resume on Friday.

Earlier in the day, overnight Indian batter Shreyas Iyer could only add 4 runs to his score. He was bowled by Ebadot Hossain for 86 runs.

The visitors will be look to wrap up the Bangladesh innings as early as possible on Day 3. It will be interesting to see if stand-in captain KL Rahul enforce a follow-on or not.
