Kolkata: India Test captain Virat Kohli and BCCI president Anurag Thakur took part in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on Sunday at the Eden Gardens. Both were involved in cleaning the stands  at Eden gardens B Block along with Kumble, Rahane, Rohit and Pujara after the third days play.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the Swachh Bharat Mission on this day in 2014. Former cricketers Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly were also selected as nominees for the Swachh Bharat Mission.

The BCCI President released a silver commemorative coins weighing 100 gms each, with 250thTest on home soil on one side and CAB logo on the other side. The coins were given out to each member of both the sides.

Later Thakur and Ganguly planted two saplings in the K Block of Eden Gardens to roll the ball. CAB will plant 250 saplings to make the historic occasion memorable.

MD. Shami and Wriddhiman Saha were also felicitated with tiger crystals and blazers. Indian Skipper Virat Kohli was felicitated with the commemorative coin and a crystal vase, while his counterpart Ross Taylor.

Earlier, as conceived by CAB President Sourav Ganguly, the Eden bell that was put up to mark the historic Test and was rung by Virender Sehwag to start Day 3 of the test match.
