KL Rahul’s approach questioned: Gambhir’s cold-blooded stare at LSG skipper after defeat in Eliminator 1 goes viral

Xtra Time Web Desk: Is all well between Lucknow Super Giants mentor Gautam Gambhir and captain KL Rahul following the defeat to RCB in Eliminator 1 at Eden Gardens? An image of Gambhir’s cold blooded stare at Rahul after the match is going viral on social media suggesting the LSG mentor was not happy with KL’s approach in the run chase. Both Gambhir and Rahul were involved in a discussion after the match at the dugout and at one moment Gambhir was spotted giving a cold-blooded stare towards Rahul.

Several former cricketers have questioned Rahul’s approach while chasing a daunting target. Although the LSG captain scored a brilliant knock of 79 off 58 balls, but his approach to many seemed a selfish one. Rahul scored his runs at a strike-rate of 136.21 but many felt he could have played lot more aggressively as the asking rate was quite steep towards the end.

As a matter of fact, Rahul faced just four more deliveries than Patidar but there was a gulf between the individual scores of the two batters.

Many felt Rahul was playing for his own cause as he crossed 600 runs in the ongoing season. It was the third season in a row that Rahul has scored over 600 runs. He finished IPL 2022 with 616 runs at an average of 51.33, with two centuries.

Talking about the match, Lucknow Super Giants fought valiantly chasing 208 to win but ended scoring 196/3 despite captain KL Rahul’s 79 off 58 balls. For Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajat Patidar was the performer of the match scoring an unbeaten 112 off 54 balls.
