KL Rahul tests positive for Covid-19; doubtful for T20 series against Windies

Xtra Time Web Desk: In what comes as a huge blow to Team India, star batter KL Rahul has tested positive for Covid-19 and might not be available for the upcoming T20I series against West Indies. Rahul was supposed to appear for a fitness test on Sunday at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. But now, he will have to spend at least 7 days in isolation as per Karnataka Covid guidelines and return two negative tests. That could see him miss out on the entire T20 series.

The confirmation for Rahul testing positive for Covid-19 was shared by BCCI President Sourav Ganguly during his press conference after the Apex Council meeting in Mumbai on Thursday.

Rahul has resumed full-fledged practice in Bengaluru and is close to 100% match fitness. But now he has to remain in isolation. Following Covid recovery, he has to pass a mandatory fitness test before leaving for Trinidad.

Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav has got the green signal from National Cricket Academy (NCA) to travel to the Caribbean. The left arm spinner was side-lined with an arm injury during a practice session ahead of the home series against South Africa in June.
