King’s Cup: Igor Stimac tastes the first victory, India finishes 3rd

XtraTime Web Desk:Igor Stimac, the new Croatian Coach of the Blue Tigers made as many as six changes to the squad featured against Curacao the other day. The likes of young Anirudh Thapa, Farukh Chowdhury, Raynier Fernandes grabbed the opportunity with both hands. The likes of Sunil Chhetri, Gurpreet Sandhu, Pronay Halder were rested as the gaffer wanted to taste the nerves of the youngstars.

Adil Khan got a chance and appeared to be the main difference between the two teams in the end. Not only did he assisted the goal to Thapa but also stood like a rock on the heart of the defence. In the 17th minute, Adil delivered a superb cross to Thapa and the Chennaiyin FC midfielder tapped it in with a calm finish.

The win will no doubt be a fresh air for Stimac but he still needs to do a lot of work to tune attacking prowess of the team. Considering the number of chances the Blue Tigers had got, India should have wont it at least by 3 goals if not more.
