Kolkata: Aryan Club crowned champions in the inaugural Kolkata Futsal League 2016, after beating Southern Samity 6-2 in the final played on Saturday. The champion team bagged a prize money Rs 40,000, while runners-up got Rs 25,000.

Former India captain  and CAB President Sourav Ganguly too k time out of his busy schedule and was present in the grand finale as Chief Guest along with Subrta Bakshi, IFA Secretary Utpal Ganguly and President Subrata Dutta.

For Aryan, Samshad Ali, who emerged as tournament’s top scorer with 7 goals, scored a hat-trick and Ankit Mukhejee, Tanmoy Kundu and Kazeem Amobi Bolanle netted a goal each in the finale, while Basanta Singh pulled a couple of goals back for  Southern Samity at Jagriti Sangha Ground in Garia, Kolkata.

The tournament was a single-elimination tournament organised by Indian Football Association (W.B.) in association with Jagriti Sangha. Eight Calcutta Premier Division – A clubs in Mohammedan Sporting Club, East Bengal, George Telegraph, United SC, Bhawanipore FC, Peerless SC, Aryan Club and Southern Samity  participated in the competition that began on July 8.

Meanwhile eariler in the day, Bali Gramanchal beat Taltala Dipti Sangha 2-0 in the summit clash to clich the title in women’s tournament, held simultaneously with men’s competition. The champion team of the women’s competition got Rs 30,000 and the runner-up received Rs 20,000.
