Jos Buttler preferred playing for his country despite his father being hospitalized: Root
XtraTime Web Desk: England wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler, who played a valuable knock of 75 runs in guiding his team to an incredible 3 wickets win over Pakistan in the first test at Old Trafford preferred to keep country ahead of family. Buttler and Chris Woakes (84) shared a valuable sixth-wicket stand of 139 runs to guide England home.
Buttler’s innings is indeed very special as he also had to contend with the fact that his father had been admitted to hospital on Friday.
“It says a huge amount about him as a person to carry all of that and be able to either use it, or park it,” said England skipper Joe Root.
Root added, "It shows how mentally strong he is more than anything, but also how skillful. One of Jos’ big traits is when he’s under pressure he puts in big performances. He can deal with high-pressure.”
