Kolkata: After achieving a major milestone of being the no 1 wicket taker of the women’s ODI, Indian pacer Jhulan Goswami is all set to be honoured by having a cricket ball of her name. The “Bengal Tigress” (ball) has been made by B.Dasgupta in accordance with SS Sports. Wriddhiman Saha and Uptal Chatterjee would be present at the inauguration which will be held on May 27th at 5 PM.

The owner of B.Dasgupta & Co. Somnath Dasgupta spoke www.xtratime.in in which he said  “We had planned it before but then she suffered an injury and as a result she had to miss out an entire tour. However I was certain that she would achieve this milestone real soon. I am also certain that no one from Bengal would be able to create this record in the next 100 years. Achieving this milestone is an almost impossible job”

“Everyone knows about the cricketing journey of Jhulan. What she has achieved in her life, normal people like us could hardly dream what she has achieved. Honouring her would be a proud moment for us. Public memory is short as people will forget her when she retires. But we want her legacy to continue” said Somnath Dasgupta.

The cricket ball named after Jhulan Goswami is set to appear in three sizes and would be available in the market at a very cheap rate.
“The ball has been named as “Bengal Tigress” and it will be available in three sizes. Namely the senior size, women’s size and juniors size. Most of the games are held in poor grounds and as a result special glace has been added to the ball for its longevity. The ball has been merely priced at Rs. 200.  But the lower price off the ball would not degrade the quality of the ball. The ball is certain to keep the name that has been given to it” said Dasgupta.

Dasgupta also claims that there would be a huge demand for the ball in the market as no such ball is available in the market at that cheap rate.
“We also have no motive to make profit as our soul intention is to honour Julan so well have to keep maintain the quality of the product to keep up her good name” said the owner of the B.Dasgupta & Co.

Indian women bowling sensation Jhulan Goswami felt herself lucky when she heard that the ball would be named after her.
“This has been an extremely proud moment for me” she said while talking to xtratime.in

“Somnath da (Dasgupta) has also supported not only me but also other cricketers which he usually does. While I was touring in South Africa he came up with this idea and as a result I am eager to watch this new ball”
