Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India will be without pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah in their upcoming Asia Cup 2023 Group A match due to undisclosed personal reasons. Bumrah left Colombo for Mumbai on Sunday. He is expected to join the Indian squad ahead of the Super Four stages. Mohammed Shami will replace Bumrah for India's second group league match against Nepal on September 4. This match holds significant importance for India, as they must defeat Nepal to secure a spot in the next round, which commences on September 6.

According to undisclosed sources and reports, Bumrah has returned to Mumbai to be by the side of his wife Sanjana who is expected their first child.

In the highly anticipated India-Pakistan encounter on Saturday, Bumrah didn't have the opportunity to bowl due to rain interruptions at the Pallekele International Stadium in Kandy. However, he contributed with the bat, scoring 16 crucial runs in India's total of 266.

Bumrah had demonstrated good form while leading India in the T20I series in Ireland the previous month. During this series, he picked up four wickets from three matches, ending as the joint-highest wicket-taker alongside teammates Ravi Bishnoi and Prasidh Krishna.
