Xtra Time Web Desk: Tokyo Olympic gold medallist  Neeraj Chopra on Sunday expressed gratitude after getting an opportunity to attend the Independence Day celebrations at Red Fort. Neeraj took to his official Twitter handle and said that it was an 'honor' to attend the Independence Day celebrations at the historic Red Fort on Sunday.

"It was an honour to attend the Independence Day celebrations at the historic Red Fort today. As an athlete and a soldier, my heart is full of emotion when I see the national flag flying high. Jai Hind," Neeraj tweeted.

The highlight of the 75th Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort was the presence of all the Tokyo Olympics participants, including medalists like Neeraj Chopra, PV Sindhu and Mirabai Chanu.

"The young generation made India proud at the Olympics. Those athletes are present here today," said Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He added, "We can be proud of the fact they have not only won our hearts but inspired the youth of this country."

Neeraj Chopra became India's first Olympic gold winner in athletics at Tokyo 2020.
