Kolkata: The newly formed company of Mohun Bagan-ATK entity’s name is ATK-Mohun Bagan Private Limited. That’s why everyone started thinking that there is a high chance of ATK’s name might come ahead of Mohun Bagan when the new name of the club would be decided. But as per sources a good news is coming for all the Mohun Bagan fans. If everything goes right, the new name of the club would be ‘Mohun Bagan Athletic Club Kolkata’. Beside that the logo of ‘sailing boat’ will the same on the new jersey, now the question is whether ATK’s logo would be there or not. The officials of Mohun Bagan-ATK still haven’t decided about the colour of away jersey, but the colour of the home jersey would definitely be Green and Maroon. Board chairman Sanjiv Goenka doesn’t want to heart the emotions of the fans of 131-year old club.
On the other hand Indian Football team’s star defender Sandesh Jhingan is in the radar of many ISL franchises including Mohun Bagan-ATK. But Sandesh wants to play outside India just like Bhaichung Bhutia, Sunil Chhetri and Gurpreet Singh Sandhu did. The problem in front of Sandesh is the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which can force him to play in India for another season. ATK head coach Antonio Habas is eager to see the star defender in his team, and that’s why the team’s Assistant Coach Sanjoy Sen had talked with Jhingan on quite a few occasions. Now the fans are eagerly waiting to see weather the new board announce the name of Sandesh Jhingan after their first board meeting.
In the forthcoming Mohun Bagan-ATK board meeting, there are four topics which can be discussed by the board of directors. 1) The Name of the Club, 2) Logo, 3) The colour of home & away jersey and 4) A World class football academy.
Though the new company ‘Calcutta Games & Sports Private Limited’ has started its journey from June 17 this year but they will start their work together from July 10 when the Board of Directors meeting would take place. In the meeting all eyes will be on BCCI President Sourav Ganguly who will be one of the directors of the board.
