ISL Transfers 2023: MBSG rope in Australian striker Jason Cummings on a three year deal

The club announced the signing through their social media platforms. Cummings expressed his excitement about joining the club and mentioned his admiration for Mohun Bagan Super Giant’s rich heritage and their status as the best club in India, having won the Hero ISL title. He hopes to contribute to the team’s success and help them win more trophies during his tenure.

Cummings brings extensive experience from playing in the lower leagues of England and Scotland. He had successful spells with Hibernian FC, where he won the Scottish Cup and the Scottish second league championship. In the 2021-22 season, Cummings joined Australian side Central Coast Mariners and played a key role in their A-League title win, scoring a hat-trick in the final against Melbourne City FC. He made 50 appearances for the Mariners, scoring 31 goals and providing 12 assists.

His performances caught the attention of the Australian national team, and he earned a call-up, representing his country in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Head coach Juan Ferrando praised Cummings’ attacking style, excellent ball control, goal-scoring ability, and his teamwork. The signing of a current World Cup player like Cummings demonstrates the growing impact of the Hero ISL on Indian football. Cummings joins Albanian forward Armando Sadiku as the second foreign addition to the Mariners’ squad in the ongoing transfer window.
