Xtra Time Web Desk : SC East Bengal on Monday continued their poor run in the Indian Super League as Mario Rivera’s side lost to a resilient Odisha FC by a margin of 1-2 to mark their eighth loss of the season.

The Red and Gold made a steady start to the match before going behind on the 23rd minute, courtesy of a Jonathas tapin from a brilliant cross. The game then saw end to end football with shots from both sides along with severe battles in the midfield to control the ball. The Torchbearers although got many chances in the first half, but wasn’t able to capitalize them because of lack of finishing instinct. The half ended with SC East Bengal being 1-0 behind.

In the second half though, Rivera went to plan B as his team started playing more and more attacking football to equalise which finally capitalized on the 64th minute as Antonio Perosevic scored a goal to make the scoreline tie at 1-1. The Perosevic strike though ignited the match as both teams started playing end to end football with shots flying all around.

SC East Bengal’s fight however came to an end when Hernandez scored a brilliant goal on the 75th minute to make the scoreline 2-1 in favour of Odisha. The Torchbearers however fought till the last moment and tried their best to equalise but Fran Sota missed the last chance of the match during the dying moments of added time which ended in another disappointing loss for the Red and Gold.
