Internet Desk: Renowned Automobile Company Hero MotoCorp has extended their deal with the Star India and IMG Relience-promoted Indian Super League (ISL) for three more years where the price has been tripled for the cash-rich league.

Since the inaugural season of the Hero Indian Super League in 2014, the automobile company had been paying $8 million (around 51crore) for three years to the IMGR. The renewed deal is estimated at $25mn (Rs 160 crore) for next three years.

“ISL has proven a success in terms of spectatorship (in-stadia attendance) and followership (TV viewership, social media engagement). As part of our strategy on football, we have tried not only to create a domestic football league to promote the sport but also attempt to increase the width of the games available to viewers. Hero’s commitment affirms the belief (we have) that the league is primed for a revenue upswing as well,” says Sanjay Gupta, managing director of Star India.

In the current season, two more teams have joined the ISL and from now on it will be a ten-team affair. Jamshedpur and the defending I-League champions Bengaluru FC are the two teams who are newly added to the franchises.
