Ishan Kishan skip test series due to personal reasons | SAvsIND

Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India wicketkeeper batter Ishan Kishan will not be part of the test squad for the upcoming two match test series against South Africa starting at Centurion from December 26. Ishan has requested the BCCI to release him from test squad citing personal reasons.

KS Bharath, who has featured in five Tests, has been named as Ishan’s replacement. The wicketkeeper from Andhra Pradesh will be back-up for KL Rahul. The cricketer from Karnataka had stated that he would like to keep wickets and bat in the middle order in across formats.

“I don’t know about all formats, right now my focus is on this ODI series,” Rahul said on Saturday. “Yes, I’ll be doing the same role. I’ll be wicketkeeping and batting in the middle order. After that, yes, I would be happy to take up that role even in the Test matches,” Rahul said in his pre-match press conference on Saturday.
