IPL : Gary Kirsten likely to coach Rajkot

Gary-KirstenNew Delhi , December 28 :  IPL 9 might see the return of  former India coach Gary Kirsten as the coach of Rajkot franchise . The South African is likely to return for a second stint as an Indian Premier League coach if a deal with Rajkot works out, the Indian Express reported today.

Kirsten had coached Delhi Daredevils for two seasons in 2014 and 2015 but was sacked after disappointing results. The team finished in the bottom two under Kirsten.
However, Kirsten had an exceptional record as coach of India and his native South Africa. He had led India to their second World Cup triumph in 2011 and had a successful tenure with the Proteas, helping them top the ICC Test rankings.

Intex, which has ownership rights of Rajkot for two years, is reportedly keen on hiring Kirsten because of his close proximity with Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja.
