Xtra Time Web Desk: Suryakumar Yadav, the world’s number one T20 batter, will continue to miss some more matches in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as he recuperates from a sports hernia surgery. The National Cricket Academy (NCA) is monitoring his progress closely. Surya, who represents Mumbai Indians, has been absent from the league, and his team has suffered losses in both matches without him.

According to a source from the BCCI, Sky is progressing well in his recovery, but he may have to sit out for a few more games after missing the initial two matches. The BCCI is cautious about his fitness and doesn’t want to rush him back, considering his crucial role in the upcoming T20 World Cup scheduled for the USA and the West Indies in June.

Surya, often likened to retired South African star AB de Villiers for his versatile shot-making abilities, boasts an impressive strike rate of 171.55 in T20 cricket. With 60 appearances in T20 Internationals for India, he has amassed 2141 runs, which include four centuries.

While MI misses his contribution, the BCCI’s primary focus is on ensuring Yadav’s fitness for the World T20. Despite his absence from the IPL, the source confirmed that Yadav remains on track for the global tournament.
