Xtra Time Web Desk: Sunil Narine's resurgence as an opener in the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been nothing short of remarkable. His recent performance against the Delhi Capitals on April 3, 2024, showcased his devastating batting prowess at the top of the order for the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Narine hit 85 off 39 balls, hitting 7 sixes and 7 fours with 217.94 strike rate and as many boundaries in a sensational show of big-hitting. Co-owner Shah Rukh Khan, who was in Vizag, was up on his feet, lauding the monstrous knock from Narine, who unfortunately missed out on a well-deserved century.

Narine did not even score 100 runs overall in the last three seasons of the IPL, but he has been in sensational form at the top of the order for the Knight Riders in IPL 2024. It's not a coincidence that Narine's batting form has shot upward after the return of Gautam Gambhir, their former captain, as the mentor of the franchise in the new season.

It was also the joint 10th fastest fifty for Kolkata in the IPL. Pat Cummins, who is now leading the Sunrisers Hyderabad, hit the fastest fifty for KKR in Pune against Mumbai Indians in 2022. Narine held the record until 2022 as he had smashed a 15-ball 50 against RCB in Bengaluru in 2017.
