IPL 2023: MS Dhoni felicitated for leading Chennai Super Kings for a record 200th time

Xtra Time Web Desk: MS Dhoni on Wednesday added another feather in his cap as he led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for the 200th time in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 game against Rajasthan Royals at the Chepauk. Dhoni, who has been with CSK since the inception of IPL in 2008, has been an instrumental figure in the team’s success over the years. He has already made history by becoming the first captain to complete 200 matches as captain in IPL, having also led Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) in the 2016 edition.

CSK owner N. Srinivasan felicitated Dhoni ahead of his milestone match, acknowledging his incredible contribution to the team. Dhoni has won four IPL trophies with CSK, making him the second-most successful captain in the history of the tournament. Speaking about his 200th game as CSK captain, Dhoni expressed his appreciation for the crowd’s support and how cricket and the IPL have evolved over the years.

Dhoni’s IPL journey began in 2008 when CSK signed him for a then-record price of USD 1.5 million (INR 6 cr). Since then, he has created numerous records, including being the most-capped player in IPL history with 237 appearances, out of which he has captained 213 times. With his unparalleled leadership skills and immense contribution to CSK, Dhoni has left an indelible mark on the franchise and the IPL as a whole.
