Xtra Time Web Desk: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in a dominant performance in the Indian Premier League match at the MA Chidambaram stadium on Friday night. Ravindra Jadeja picked up three wickets for 22 runs to restrict SRH to 134 for 7 in their innings. CSK’s openers, Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad, then added 87 for the first wicket to comfortably chase down the target. Conway remained unbeaten on 77 as CSK won with three wickets in hand. Gaikwad played a crucial role in setting up the chase with his classy knock. MS Dhoni also played his part, displaying his terrific wicketkeeping skills and setting a new world record for most catches by a wicketkeeper in T20s.

SRH’s batting was clueless against CSK’s spinners, and they failed to put up a competitive total. Harry Brook was sent back for 18, while Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi added 36 for the second wicket. However, once Sharma fell to Jadeja, the SRH innings imploded. Jadeja picked up two more wickets in the same over and finished with figures of 3 for 22. The Sri Lankan duo of Maheesh Theekshana and Matheesha Pathirana also bowled brilliantly and picked up a wicket each.

CSK’s win helped them climb up to third place in the IPL points table, tied on 8 points with Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants. Their victory was built on the foundation laid by their openers, especially Conway, who scored his third successive half-century in the tournament. CSK will be hoping to continue their winning run as they look to qualify for the playoffs.
