IPL 2023: Aiden Markram’s shocking comment on Umran Malik proved the pacer was not handled well by SRH management

Xtra Time Web Desk: Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Aiden Markram on Thursday made a shocking statement on Umran Malik’s exclusion from the playing XI against RCB. According to Markram, he had no idea whatsoever why Umran was not preferred in the playing XI. The comment from Markram sums up that there are bigger problems within the SRH team management, clearly a communication gap between the captain and think tank.

The talented pacer was dropped for the IPL 2023 game against RCB, sparking debate whether the franchise handled him well during the season. Umran, who has been a revelation in the IPL last season has had a poor show in IPL 2023. The express pacer from Jammu & Kashmir played only seven games this season, in which he took 5 wickets at an economy rate of almost 11. True, that is not what is desired from a premier fast bowler in the side. Umran’s last appearance for SRH was on April 29.

Now the question is whether the 23-year-old fast bowler handled well by the SRH management. Someone as talented as Umran, he should have been given more opportunities irrespective of his poor form. Every player how big a star he is goes through a rough patch. And Umran is no exception. After all his impressive showing in IPL 2022 opened the doors for him in Indian team. Umran has so far played eight ODIs and eight T20Is.
