Xtra Time Web Desk : Punjab Kings’ new wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma on Monday became the first ever cricketer from Amravati to play the Indian Premier League as the 28 year old made a superb debut for his franchise against defending champions Chennai Super Kings and took the catch of former India skipper MS Dhoni, behind the stumps.

The 28 year old cricketer, who hails from Amravati and plays for Vidarbha has had a fantastic domestic career, which helped Punjab’s head coach Anil Kumble scout him as an undisputed talented cricketer.

Speaking about the talented former Mumbai Indians cricketer, Punjab Kings’skipper Mayank Agarwal said, “Anil Bhai had seen him when he was with Mumbai Indians & he told us we have to take him as he has great intent & is really good with his shot making. He is a fantastic keeper too & the stand out thing about him is his attitude.”

It was Jitesh on Sunday, who convinced skipper Mayank to take the review in order to get the priced wicket of MS Dhoni, after the former Team India skipper was initially given not out by the umpire.

Thus, the youngster from Vidarbha can surely be termed as one of IPL’s newer prospects.
