Xtra Time Web Desk : Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya is likely to undergo a fitness test at National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore on Wednesday, March 16. And according to reports, the Baroda all rounder will be given a challenge to bowl 10 overs on the day by the experts.

Opening up on the above event, a senior BCCI official said to InsideSport, "The NCA physios and VVS Laxman will decide the fitness test program. But as the selectors have made it clear, he will have to bowl a minimum of 10 overs and pass the mandatory Yo-yo test as per set parameters. It’s not specially designed for him. But all cricketers do need to pass the fitness tests. For the centrally contracted players, it is mandatory before IPL,”

Pandya, who hasn't played a game since last year's World Cup clash against Namibia, is expected to be in much better physical condition since his rehab programmes. The 28 year old swashbuckling cricketer is also expected to be fit for batting, will also have to clear the Yo yo test in order to be declared fully match fit for the upcoming edition of the IPL.

"He would need to pass the fitness test as it has been mandatory for some time now. Last year, even Shreyas Iyer appeared for a fitness test post shoulder surgery before playing IPL,” said a BCCI Source told PTI.

Now, with the events taking interesting turns, it will be intriguing to see how one of India's premier all rounder fares in this year's fitness test.
