Xtra Time Web Desk : As the mega auction of the Indian Premier League 2022 knocks on the door, the world of cricket is gearing up for the marquee event that is about to take place on February 12 and 13.

And right before the mega event on Saturday, the first ever IPL auctioneer Richard Madley spoke to Xtra Time as he gave various gripping insights about the bidding.

Talking about the IPL auction 2022 an interview about with Xtra Time's veteran journalist Debasis Sen, Madley said, "It's always a pleasure to come back and talk to my friends and fans in India. I'm very excited with the new format to the mega auction taking place this Saturday and Sunday. So two new teams…I think that's definitely gonna make it interesting and two new teams who have never been to the auction before. So does that give an advantage to the eight teams who've been going there for the last 14 years. I'm sure they'll have some tactics talks. I think there will be a different dynamic,"

When asked about his experience as the first ever IPL auctioneer, Madley stated, "Those were pioneering days for the IPL. Lalit Modi had dreamt of this concept of a new franchise based world cricket tournament that'd attract players from all over the globe to come and play for a short 6 week window in India. And on that date.. February 20, 2008, the Oberoi Hotel in Mumbai…the world of cricket changed forever. It was quite an extraordinary day. I look back now…it seems like only yesterday but on that day things changed for I think the better."
