Xtra Time Web Desk: A brain fade moment from Kolkata Knight Riders batsmen saw them surrendering the IPL 2021 match against Mumbai Indians by 10 runs at Chepauk on Tuesday. Eoin Morgan’s side was cruising at one point of a time, requiring just 31 off 30 with 6 wickets in hand. But thanks to some disciplined bowling by MI bowlers led by Trent Boult the defending champions ended up winning by 10 runs. KKR could score only 20 runs from their last 5 overs.

For Mumbai, Rahul Chahar bowled brilliantly for 4/27 of 4 overs while Trent Boult took 2 in his last over to win the game for the champion team.

Earlier in the day Mumbai batted first. Rohit’s men could only manage 152 from their allotted 20 overs as they were bowled out by KKR bowlers. Andre Russell was superb in his 2 overs spell as he equaled the quickest 5 wicket haul in the history of IPL. Mumbai could only manage mere 38 runs in their last 5 overs. Rohit scored 43 and Suryakumar Yadav’s 56 to take Mumbai past 150 runs.

In the pursuit of 153 runs to win KKR had a solid start of 72 runs for the first wicket between Rana and Gill. Gill scored 33 and Rana scored 57 runs, his second fifty of the tournament. But after the fall of first wicket Rahul Chahar bowled beautifully putting breaks on the scoring rate as captain Morgan(7) and Shakib(9) played  some needless shot to put the team into trouble. Andre Russell the hero with the ball and Dinesh Karthik were unable to get going in the middle as KKR could only manage 142 runs handing Mumbai a 10 run victory.
