Xtratime Web Desk :- Gautam Gambhir the left handed India opener who is the most successful captain for Kolkata knight Riders franchise came down heavily on Kolkata top order batsmen for their lackluster approach vs Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday. Incidentally Kolkata won their two IPL times till now under the captaincy of Gambhir.

Chasing a huge total of 221 runs to win the match one after another Kolkata top order batsman was out cheaply. Gill,Rana,Morgan,Narine, Tripathi all went to the pavillion cheaply. Kolkata knight Riders was once 31/5 . Russel, Karthik and Cummins fought their heart out but fell short by just 18 runs.

Speaking on the issue Gambhir slammed the Kolkata top order batsmen for their attitude towards batting on Wednesday night match. He said “The top order [needs to be blamed]. Eventually, they [the lower order] ran out of partners. It’s not that they couldn’t have chased this total but they just ran out of partners. If No. 6, 7 and 8 can take you this close then it really shows that there was no application. Chasing 220, there are certain venues like Wankhade or Chinnaswamy where you don’t need to panic.”
