IPL 2020: U19 World Cup star Kartik Tyagi makes debut for RR, dismiss De Kock in his first over

XtraTime Web Desk: India U19 cricketer Kartik Tyagi on Tuesday made his IPL 2020 debut for Rajasthan Royals against Mumbai Indians at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium. The promising fast bowler from Hapur, Uttar Pradesh made it a memorable debut as he picked the wicket of MI opener Quinton de Kock in his first over. Tyagi, who was thrown the ball inside the power play by RR captain Steve Smith did not disappoint as he induced a high catch from De Kock in his fifth delivery. It was a nice short delivery aimed at the ribs and the Proteas batsman mistimed it for an easy catch to Josh Buttler. In his three overs the youngster gave away 28 runs and picked the wicket of De Kock.

Tyagi on remembers was part of the Indian U19 World Cup team that played in the final of the U19 World Cup held at the start of the year in South Africa. The 19-year-old returned with 11 wickets including a game-changing 4/24 against Australia in the quarterfinal.

A fast-medium bowler who loves to swing the ball both ways at moderate pace joined his U19 India teammate Yashasvi Jaiswal who replaced Robin Uthappa in the playing XI. Tyagi developed the strength for pace by carrying sacks of produce from his father’s farm. They did not have the finances for cricket training but then, the talented teenager whooshed past the obstacles at 140 clicks an hour on the field.

The talented fast bowler was picked for Rs 1.30 crore by Rajasthan Royals.
