Mohammed Siraj’s historic back-to-back maiden overs against KKR
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) pacer Mohammed Siraj on Wednesday set a unique milestone as he became the first bowler in the history of the IPL to bowl two consecutive maiden overs during the game against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium. The 26 year bowler from Hyderabad achieved the feat inside the first powerplay. He took back to back wickets of Rahul Tripathi and Nitish Rana to see his spell read 2-2-0-2. He ended up giving 8 runs in his 4 overs and picked 3 wickets.
Shikhar Dhawan score consecutive tons
Delhi Capitals’ opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan became the first player to register consecutive centuries in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The left hander scored hundreds against Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab respectively. In fact the hundred he scored against CSK was his first in IPL after playing 95 matches.
Faf-Watson stitch record opening partnership against KXIP
Chennai Super Kings opening pair Faf du Plessis and Shane Watson made merry of the Kings XI Punjab bowlers as they put an unbeaten 181 runs. They broke the previous best record 159 runs set by CSK’s Mike Hussey and Murali Vijay in 2011.
KL Rahul’s record century as captain
Kings XI Punjab skipper KL Rahul slammed a career best 132* off just 69 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to record the highest score by an IPL captain. The 28 year old batsman from Karnataka took the RCB bowlers to the cleaners hitting them for 14 fours and 7 sixes at the Dubai International Stadium. The previous highest score by a captain was recorded by SRH Captain David Warner (126).
KKR post their lowest total in IPL history
Kolkata Knight Riders registered their lowest total in IPL history as they could only manage a paltry 84/8 against RCB at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium. Mohammed Siraj was the pick of the bowers claiming 3 wickets for 8 runs. It was a dreadful batting performance from KKR. The previous lowest total in the cash rich league was registered by Kings XI Punjab (92/8) against Chennai Super Kings in 2009.
