XtraTime Web Desk - The flamboyant right handed batsman, Suryakumar Yadav is having an IPL season to remember. As a true performer of white ball cricket, he has once again displayed his batting prowess scoring yet another half century for Mumbai Indians against Delhi Capitals in the all-important Qualifier 1 of the IPL 2020. Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma was full of praise for his teammate, terming him as a very crucial player for the team and admired his thought process.

“Suryakumar Yadav has been in brilliant form and we understand his importance and he is a very crucial player for us at 3. Having lost a wicket in the second over, we were on the back foot but the way Kock and SKY batted, we got around 60 in first six overs, which was great.” said Rohit during the post-match presentation.

He also went on to praise Surya's thought process, saying, “Surya is very clear in his thought process on how he wants to bat, and we back him. He always takes pressure away from the team and other batsmen,”.

After the early departure of Rohit Sharma for a golden duck, Suryakumar and Quinton de Kock held the innings together registering a 62-run partnership which helped Mumbai reach 200 after a later flourish by Hardik Pandya. Yadav scored a solid and fearless 51 of just 38 deliveries before being dismissed by Anrich Nortje.

With this knock, the 30 year old also rewrote the history books as he became the first player in the history of IPL to go 100 games without earning the national cap. He is also the first player in the league to score 2000 runs as an uncapped player.

Surya Kumar Yadav has been the talk of the town for sometime now. His omission from the Australian tour came as a surprise to many because he is in form of his life in this IPL season and continuously playing some of his best cricket the last 2-3 years.
