IPL 2020: Rohit Sharma explains the logic behind not sending Ishan Kishan to bat in Super Over

XtraTime Web Desk: It was a heartbreak for Mumbai Indians fans as Royal Challengers Bangalore clinched the Super Over in a tensed battle in IPL 2020 at the Dubai International Stadium on Monday. The ongoing IPL is proving why it is being regarded as the best global T20 competition with another nail biting thriller. The match went into Super Over after the scores were leveled. Chasing 202 runs to win, Mumbai Indians too finished on 201/5, thanks to the last ball boundary by Kieron Pollard. It was a bit baffling to see Ishan Kishan who played so well for his 99(580 not preferred to go in to bat in the Super Over. Instead it was Kieron Pollard who accompanied Hardik Pandya. The MI batsmen could only manage 7 runs from a Navdeep Saini over. The star studded duo of AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli chased the target with the RCB captain hitting the winning runs. After the match, MI skipper Rohit Sharma explained the reason behind holding the batsman back in the Super Over.

“He (Kishan) was drained out and was not comfortable. We thought we could send him but he was not feeling fresh. I mean 7 runs you need to have luck on your side, we had to get wickets but there was also an unfortunate boundary. There are a lot of positives to take away from this game,” Rohit said after the match.

A soaking wet Kishan watched from the dugout as MI came perilously close to registering their second win of the season.
