IPL 2020: ‘No way you can tell me that has slipped’: Gavaskar questions Navdeep Saini’s beamer to Stoinis

XtraTime Web Desk: Former India opener and legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has come down heavily on Royal Challengers Bangalore fast bowler Navdeep Saini for hurling a beamer at Delhi Capital’s Marcus Stoinis during the IPL 2020 match at the Dubai International Stadium. The Australian was batting confidently and was looking to take the attack against the opposition.
Looking to get a breakthrough, RCB Captain Virat Kohli brought Navdeep Saini into the attack in the 15th over. The lanky pacer got irked after the Australian all rounder hit him for a six and a four off the consecutive balls. While trying to bowl a yorker the next ball, the ball slipped out of his hand and hit the gloves of Stoinis. The Australian batsman was visibly upset with the beamer hurled at him at 143 kph as it hurt his fingers. He immediately signaled to the dugout to call for treatment. But the disappointing part was that there was no gesture to apologise from Saini as he walked back to bowl the next ball.
Gavaskar, who was on air in the commentary box, was quick to question the behaviour from the Delhi pacer. He pointed out that the bowler didn’t even apologise to Marcus Stoinis while hinting that it could’ve been a deliberate beamer. “It was quick. Look at that. You can tell me anything, but whatever you say, a yorker does not go that high.
“If you bowl a fuller yorker, it might go by the knee. At best it would go above the midriff. Anything over that, no way. No way you can tell me that has slipped,” said Gavaskar.
Immediately after receiving the treatment, Stoinis hit the next ball bowled by Saini to the fence. Soon after this delivery, the RCB pacer put his hand up to apologise but it was too late.
