IPL 2020: MS Dhoni takes a stunner against KKR to create a new IPL record

In a high voltage match between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders, new records are now made in the Indian Premier League. In the Mahendra Singh Dhoni surpassed Dinesh Karthik in the category of most number of catches in the history of IPL. It’s important to mention that he did in quite a fashion as it was a stunning catch in the back. With this catch, Dhoni now 104 catches in IPL. Though after taking Faf du Plessis catch in the second innings Karthik has again equaled the record.

Beside that, the Birthday boy Dwayne Bravo also achieved an individual record on Wednesday. With the wicket of Shivam Mavi in the 20th over, Dwayne Bravo now completed 150 wickets in IPL. Mavi who went for the glory shot, nicked the ball and was caught by Dhoni behind the stumps.

Dhoni also completed a run-out in the last ball as CSK successfully folded KKR for 167.

Earlier in the evening, Rahul Tripathi scored a promising 81 in his debut innings as an opener for the franchise. KKR dropped Sunil Narine to No.4 and went ahead with Tripathi and Gill as their openers. Tripathi’s early onslaught allowed KKR to post 53 for the loss of one wicket in the powerplays, their best score in the phase. Yet their batting issues continued as no other batsman crossed 17. Narine was used as a middle-order pinch hitter as he scored 17 off 9.

However, Shardul Thakur and Karn Sharma’s middle-over brilliance and Bravo’s impressive death-over returns helped CSK fold KKR for 167.
