IPL 2020: MS Dhoni starts training at the nets in Ranchi

XtraTime Web Desk: MS Dhoni has returned to the nets ahead of the 13th edition of India Premier League (IPL 2020) which will start next month in UAE. The talismanic captain of the Chennai Super Kings has hit the ground running in a bid to prepare for the IPL. It is learnt the wicketkeeper batsman has started training at the indoor nets of the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) due to the monsoon season. As Ranchi is still witnessing lockdown, no net bowlers were available either to give practice to the Chennai Super Kings captain. But that did not stop the CSK skipper as he chose to practice with the bowling machines.

According to a report in New India Express, Dhoni visited the JSCA International Stadium Complex last week. He practised at the indoor facility using bowling machine. Dhoni did visit the JSCA indoor nets last week and batted for a couple of days. But since then he did not return for training.

The former India captain has been on a sabbatical from cricket since the 2019 World Cup semi final against New Zealand at Manchester. Dhoni was seen at the training camp of CSK in Chennai in March before the lockdown. But the camp had to be called off due to the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic.

The CSK team is expected to gather in Chennai on August 20 before the players take off for the UAE.
