IPL 2020: MS Dhoni is still super fit, says Glenn Maxwell

XtraTime Web Desk: After Suresh Raina & Harbhajan Singh decided to stay away from IPL 2020, everyone thought that the domination of the three-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings coming to an end.  Even after 13 of their members were tested positive, the team fought back really well and ready to give a strong fight to Mumbai on Saturday in the season opener.

Speaking to cricket.com.au, Glenn Maxwell backs Chennai’s team and shares his thoughts on this dangerous side. “They have always got great depth in their side. With their batters, all-rounders and throwing their captain Dhoni who’s just able to control the game in his speed and he’s got a great understanding of the game… control as per everything is going in the game and throwing a couple of world class spinners as well” said the star player of Kings XI Punjab camp.

Maxi had a lot to say when he was asked about the Chennai captain. How Dhoni’s presence can completely change the complexion of the match. “Yes, you always certainly feel that, he’s still got a chance of winning it for him. No matter what position of the game, you still feel like you need a one more wicket here. Doesn’t matter who’s at the other end, you know that he can control and he’s so quick in between the wicket and he’s still super fit. You know that he can still cut the game away with a couple of big hits. He controls the strike really well” this is what Maxwell said when he was asked about Mahi’s finishing ability.

The Champion opener from Chennai, Shane Watson has done a lot for the team. Scoring that 100 in the 2018 IPL final us one of the memorable innings in IPL history. Maxi had a lot of good stuffs to say about his fellow Australian. “He keeps turning up and keeps getting it done and whatever team he plays for, success seems to follow. He’s got a great tactical head on his shoulder. Combine that with his extreme ability with bat, its pretty incredible that he keeps getting it done”.

Even though Chennai Super Kings is filled with heavyweight names like Dhoni, Watson, Du Plesis, Imran Tahir, Ravindra Jedeja and others but Maxwell thinks that Dwayne Bravo is going to be the key player for a Chennai. Bravo already won the Caribbean Premier League this year where he had a very good season with bat and bowl. His all-round capability can make a difference this year. “Their key player is going to be Dwayne Bravo, someone who bats, bowls, electric in the field. He always seems to be a step ahead from the game and captaining him last year in the BBL, I would say that first hand that the way he goes as a batter, he’s being able to set his own fields and knows what he wants to bowl. To have someone like that in the Chennai line up is going to be big bonus for them”.
