XtraTime Web Desk: Mayank Agarwal, the man of the hour has done something quite remarkable in his recent outing against Rajasthan Royals.

Agarwal brought up his century in 45 deliveries by hitting a boundary off the last ball of the 15th over. This was the joint-sixth fastest century in the history of IPL and the second fastest by an Indian ever. The fastest century in IPL was scored by Chris Gayle, who is also a Kings XI Punjab player currently. The fastest ton by an Indian belongs to Yusuf Pathan , who reached his century in just 37 deliveries in 2010, against Mumbai Indians while playing for the Rajasthan Royals.

Mayank however couldn't keep going as he was dismissed on 106 of 50 balls. With this innings, Mayank has now recorded his highest run in IPL. KL Rahul, the captain of the side supported him throughout. Rahul himself scored 69 of 54 balls and they had a partnership of 183 runs for the first wicket. Thanks to the two openers Kings XI Punjab has reached 223 for 2 in their allotted 20 overs.

This is the 2nd highest partnership between any two player in KXIP Jersey. The highest still belongs to Gilchrist-Marsh partnership for the 2nd wicket against RCB in 2011. They scored 202 runs together. This is also the second highest total for Kings XI Punjab in IPL. Their highest total is 246 against Chennai Super Kings in 2010.

Mayank Agarwal was ‘The Man’ of the first innings. In the mid innings, Agarwal spoke about his performance. He said, “It feels amazing (to get the hundred), but more importantly we got good runs. You got to give yourself some time, because it's not as easy as it seems. It was holding up a bit, just one of those days when you're striking well and you keep going.”

Mayank also revealed the reason behind his performance. He said, “I'm a lot more calmer than before, backing myself and giving myself a lot of time. Lots of hard work in the nets, it's paying off now.”
