XtraTime Web Desk: Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders were dealt a blow as their England pacer Harry Gurney is all set to miss the upcoming 13th edition of the cash rich league which is scheduled to start in UAE from September 19. The Notts Outlaws bowler has been ruled out due to a shoulder injury.

In an interview to EXPNCricinfo, Gurney confirmed he is not travelling to Abu Dhabi to join his Knight Riders teammates for this season’s IPL. Gurney was quite impressive last season for the Purple Army, taking seven wickets in 8 games, including a MOM award against Rajasthan Royals at the Swai Maan Singh Stadium.

“Having gone through the same frustrations as everyone this year in waiting for cricket to restart, I’m devastated to have to miss the Blast,” said Gurney to ESPNCricinfo.

He added, “Some of the proudest moments in my career have been with Notts, and nothing quite compares to being out on the field at Trent Bridge competing for trophies with some of my best mates. To have that taken away for a year is tough.”

The Knight Rider’s management is yet to announce a replacement for Gurney.
