Xtra Time Web Desk: Kolkata Knight Riders was comprehensively outplayed by the Royal Challengers Bangalore as they lost by 82 runs in Match 28 of the ongoing IPL 2020. It also meant Dinesh Karthik’s team was pushed one stage below in the points table behind RCB. The two-time champions kept losing wickets at regular intervals Yuzuvendra Chahal was pick of the RCB bowlers, picking 2 wickets by giving away 12 runs in 4 overs. Chris Morris and Washington Sundar also picked two wickets each.

Earlier in the game, AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli took RCB to a daunting total. The duo shared an unbeaten stand of 100 runs to power their side to the huge total. De Villiers was the destructor-in-chief scoring73 off just 33 balls while Kohli remained unbeaten on 33 off 28 balls.

Despite losing by such a huge margin, KKR captain Dinesh Karthik does not want to look too much into the defeat. Speaking at the end of the match, Dinesh Karthik praised de Villiers, saying that the South African was the difference between the two sides.

“He (de Villiers) is a world-class player and hard to stop him on a ground like this and at the end of the day his innings was the difference between both sides. We need to sit down and make sure there are new things we need to do better,” said Dinesh Karthik.

Reflecting on his team’s batting, Karthik said, “Batting is one area we didn’t do well today and that’s something we gonna try and improve. We have three days break and we need to start fresh after that. It’s been an interesting IPL so far as a lot of teams are comfortable batting first. I think every captain has a day like this where everything doesn’t go according to plan and it’s one of those days for me, I don’t want to read too much into it.”
