IPL 2020: I am playing IPL after dad said, I had a duty to the job, says Ben Stokes

XtraTime Web Desk: England all rounder Ben Stokes on Wednesday said it wasn’t an easy decision to leave his ailing father and come to UAE to play the ongoing Indian Premier League Stokes, who plays for Rajasthan Royals is currently under quarantine in team hotel on reaching Dubai from Christchurch. It was only due to his father who reminded him of his ‘duties to the job’ that the World Cup winning England all rounder is in UAE.

In his column for Daily Mirror, Stokes wrote, “Dad told me I have a duty to do the job that I do and as a husband and father as well,”

“We came to a decision that now sees me back focusing on the game and then I’ll be heading home to Clare [his wife] and the kids.
“All things considered, I’m in a good place.”

Stokes travelled to New Zealand mid-way during the test series against Pakistan in August to be with his father, Ged, who has brain cancer. He landed in Dubai on Saturday to meet up with the Rajasthan Royals.
