IPL 2020: Gautam Gambhir picks this bowler who can stop Andre Russell

XtraTime Web Desk: Former India opener Gautam Gambhir believes Mumbai Indians bowler Jasprit Bumrah has the ability to stop Kolkata Knight Rider’s power hitter Andre Russell. Talking to Star Sports Cricket Connected, the former KKR captain feel the Indian pace spearhead Bumrah has the potentiality to trouble the hard-hitting Jamaican. The 32-year-old Jamaican all-rounder was the most valuable player in IPL 2019 because of his exploits.

“There might be two or three of them in the IPL who could trouble him but not beyond that. I don’t see bowlers other than probably someone like Jasprit Bumrah who can actually trouble Andre Russell,” Gambhir said on Cricket Connected.

Recently KKR’s chief mentor David Hussey heaped huge praises on Russell and even claimed that the Caribbean cricketer can hit a double hundred in T20 format. Talking about Russell’s ability, the cricketer-turned-politician said that the Jamaican will be hard to stop if he’s in form.

According to Gambhir, “Obviously, if you are in great hitting form, quality of cricket and quality of bowling might be different but Andre Russell is a confidence player. If his confidence is high, then the bowling does not matter.”

The first duel between Bumrah and De Russ will take on September 23 while the reverse fixture is scheduled for October 16.
Gambhir led KKR to twin IPL titles in 2012 and 2014.
