IPL 2020: Emotional Shane Watson tells CSK teammates about his retirement

Shane Watson has decided to hand his boots from all formats of the game.

Xtra Time Web Desk: Chennai Super Kings opener Shane Watson has reportedly decided to call it a day as far as playing cricket in any format is concerned. The former Australia all rounder announced his decision of retiring from all forms of cricket after CSK played their final game of the ongoing IPL 2020 season on Sunday.

According to The Times of India, Shane Watson told his CSK teammates about his decision right after the match against KXIP ended. A source informed the news outlet that the allrounder was very emotional while revealing the decision to the dressing room

Shane Watson played 11 games this season and scored 299 runs with the help of two fifties. The all rounder, who joined the franchise in 2018, managed to carve his place in CSK’s cricket history by scoring a century in the final of the 2018 IPL, helping the side win their third title and first since 2011.Last year too, he had scored a fighting fifty in the final against Mumbai Indians but CSK had ended up losing the game by one run. Before joining CSK, he had played for Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Overall, he played a total of 145 IPL games, of which 43 matches were for CSK.
