XtraTime Web Desk: Bad news for Chennai Super Kings cricketers Harbhajan Singh and Suresh Raina as the franchise is likely to terminate their contracts for the current season with them. Both the cricketers cited personal reasons and are not taking part in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) in UAE. While Suresh Raina preferred returning back to India, Harbhajan decided not to travel to UAE. In fact the later is doing commentary for the ongoing cash rich league. Both the players, who were in the final year of their existing contracts, pulled out of the IPL 2020 due to personal reasons.

“CSK has not only removed the names of Raina and Harbhajan from their official website but as per the norm has also initiated the process of terminating all contractual relationship with both the players,” states a report by InsideSport.

“As per the IPL Auction guidelines in 2018,” the report further mentions, “both Harbhajan & Raina had signed a 3 years deal with the CSK which was finishing with the 2020 season of IPL 2020.”

Raina had signed a deal worth INR 11 crores per year while the contractual amount in Harbhajan’s case was 2 crores. It is understood, no salaries will be credited to the two players for the season.

CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan, when contacted by InsideSport, refused to comment on the issue, but didn’t deny the possibility of the development either. On the salary for IPL 2020, Viswanathan was quoted saying, “players will only be paid if they play as they are not playing they won’t be paid”.

The two cricketers may also end up losing the contract next season as well due to the fact that the next edition of the cash rich league is slated to take place in six months time.
