IPL 2020: Ben Stokes doubtful for the league as his father battles brain cancer

XtraTime Web Desk: With just 18 days left for the 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) , doubts are lingering over World Cup winning England all rounder Ben Stokes ‘participation for Rajasthan Royals. Stokes is now in New Zealand to be beside his ailing father who is battling brain cancer. He left the Pakistan series mid-way on hearing the condition of his father.

The England all rounder had revealed that he had stress mounting up thinking about his father’s ailment and he didn’t get sleep for a week during the England vs Pakistan test series. Therefore, he left the camp as it was the right choice being not in the right state of mind.

“I didn’t sleep for a week and my head wasn’t really in it,” said Stokes in a recent interview.

The England selectors had not included Stokes in neither the T20I nor ODI squads against Australia. Both England and Australia will be involved in a three match T20I & ODI series starting from September 04.

Stokes participation in the IPL 2020 will also depend on the health conditions of his father. Rajasthan Royals have still not heard any confirmation from Ben Stokes regarding his participation. Stokes has so far scored 635 runs from 34 matches in the IPL at an average of 22.67. He has also taken 26 wickets in the cash rich league.
