IPL 2019: We have a lot of faith in our middle order: VVS Laxman

Xtra Time Web Desk: Sunrisers Hyderabad mentor VVS Laxman on Monday said he is backing his team’s middle order to come good with the bat in the remaining matches of the Indian Premier League 2019. The middle order of the Orange Army has been under a lot of criticism after failing to come good so far. The likes of Manish Pandey, Vijay Shankar and Yousuf Pathan are yet to get going in IPL 2019.

“I think it is unfair to tell that middle order hasn’t been performing because in all the first three matches the openers gave us century partnership which doesn’t happen so regularly in a T20 match, but having said that in Delhi and the last match the middle order had a chance. You also have to remember they had a tough batting surface. Even the opposition team did not score more than 150 runs.”

“The coaching stuff has a lot of faith in the middle order. They are all quality batsmen and have done well in the past. I am hoping that they start firing soon. It is important to be giving them the security and confidence,” said the Sunrisers Hyderabad mentor.

There is calm demeanor and unflappable temperament associated with the support staff of Sunrisers. Coach Tom Moody, spin bowling Coach Muttiah Muralitharan and Laxman seems to have rubbed onto the team the qualities they possess.

“I think it’s very important especially when you are in the dugout or dressing room, you want to create an atmosphere where you don’t want to feel restless. As coaching stuff we make sure we do that. I think it’s very natural to all of us, not that we are putting any artificial look. You want to be calm and composed but also credit to the players,” signed off Laxman.
