IPL 2019: Ton up Kohli lights up a packed Eden Gardens crowd

Xtra Time Web Desk: A packed house at the Eden Gardens were treated to a special knock from Virat Kohli, as the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Captain scored a scintillating ton against Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2019) clash at the Eden Gardens on Friday. Kohli, has now scored five centuries in the cash rich league, one behind Universe Boss Chris Gayle who has 6 hundreds under his belt.

Kohli’s knock (100 off 58 balls) included 9 fours and 4 sixes. The RCB captain departed off the last ball of the innings trying to send Harry Gurney into the stands, only to be caught by Shubman Gill.

During the course of his 5th hundred, Virat Kohli went past 300 runs in a season for the 10th successive year in the IPL. Kohli had scored 165 runs in 2008 and 246 runs in 2009.
In 2016, Virat Kohli smashed a record-breaking 973 runs and 4 hundreds from 16 matches as Royal Challengers Bangalore finished as runners-up.

Kohli now joins Johny Bairstow, Sanju Samson, David Warner and KL Rahul who have all scored a hundred in the ongoing edition of the IPL.
