IPL 2019: This stadium is likely to be named as stand-by venue for final on May 12

Xtra Time Web Desk: Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad is likely to be named as the stand-by venue for the final of the Indian Premier League 2019. Hyderabad along with Bangalore is likely to be named as the two cities to host the two playoffs this season.

It was earlier decided that MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai will host the final of the cash rich league this season. But the pending problem with the three stands at Chepauk can proves to be a barrier in getting the green signal for the final. Since 2012, the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) hasn’t been able to obtain a fit certificate for three stands – I, J and K – from the local municipal corporation. This is the primary reason why the venue stands the risk of losing the right to host the final.

The IPL matches this season at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium have seen full houses. Fans have come in numbers to cheer for the Orange Army. One more reason for Hyderabad being chosen as the stand by venue is the close proximity to Chennai, should the final get re-scheduled at the last moment.
