IPL 2019: This legendary spinner has some valuable tips for spinners bowling in dew

Xtra Time Web Desk: SunRisers Hyderabad’s bowling mentor Muttiah Muralitharan had some valuable tips for aspiring spinners who find it difficult to bowl in dew. The Sri Lankan, owner of 800 test wickets shared his thoughts on what a spinner should do to bowl in such conditions.

“You have to bowl into the wicket and close to the batsman rather than giving room for the batsman. So a spinner has to bowl shorter and quicker as possible and wait for the batsman to make mistake. It’s very difficult to turn as the ball slips out of the hand because of the dew,” said Muralitharan.

Mohammad Nabi, the most successful SRH bowler seemed to be struggling to grip the ball because of the dew in the final over of Kings XI Punjab innings. Nabi went for 42 runs off 3.5 overs on Monday night.

“He (Nabi) is a very clever bowler because he doesn’t depend on the turn. He mostly depends on the variations, bowling quicker, little bit slower and vary the pace more than the spin,” said Murali.

The Orange Army slipped to fourth position in the points table following the six wickets loss to Kings XI Punjab. The team from Hyderabad has been missing their inspiration captain Kane Williamson. The Kiwi has been suffering from an injury. After the loss on Monday, the Sunrisers management will be looking to get the service of Williamson soon.
“Definitely Kane is the first pick. He has done well for us and is a good captain. We have been missing him. He is always welcome into the team whenever he is ready. He is a key player for us,” signed off Muralitharan.
